ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Office of Decision Support (ODS) facilitates leadership decision-making by providing data, analysis, business solutions and reporting for USF and to coordinate academic planning, reporting and related needs for USF. ODS supports the University by ensuring competitive performance, compliance with regulations and policies, and institutional accreditation.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Statistical Data Analyst contributes to the work of the Student Success and Research Analytics (SSRA) unit in the Office of Decision Support by supporting the following functions: Academic Program Review, student success analysis, data collection, visualizations. This position will report to the Director of SSRA, collaborating with the team to advance the creation and visualization of data sets to support Academic Program Reviews and various student success related analyses. This position will work with other ODS units to ensure these functions are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determines data requirements and designs data collection instruments and/or tools needed to support academic program review in compliance with SACSCOC and BOG requirements.
Determines data requirements and designs data collection instruments and/or tools needed to support student success.
Maintains code used to organize data in various systems, documents coding changes over time; ensures proper documentation underlying analyses and visualizations are in place adhering to unit/ODS standards.
Extracts data from multiple sources. Designs and produces ad hoc reports containing graphs, tables, and charts that turn data into information using Excel, VBA, Java, SQL, SPSS, Minitab, SAS, PowerBI, or Tableau.
Performs other duties as assigned to support all campuses with student related data and visualizations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the research or data analysis responsibilities and a minimum of one year of research experience; or a Master's degree in one of the same fields. Progressively responsible work experience may substitute for the college on a year for year basis.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in a discipline that involves quantitative analysis of data and one year of research experience. Extensive use of Excel, experience using rubrics to rate quality, and knowledge of student learning outcomes assessment is preferred.
