Business Analyst (Finance)
Job Description
The Office of the Registrar is responsible for maintaining accurate academic records and providing responsive services to stakeholders. The Business Analyst shares responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, privacy, and security of all academic records and related data, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures while delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented to ensure that data meets institutional standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Report and Query Development: Design, develop, and enhance reports and queries to support various operations using institutional data files and tables (e.g., student records, course enrollments, transfer credits, VA data, student financials).
Data Accessibility & Integrity: Collaborate with departments to ensure data is accessible and maintained with integrity.
System & Integration Testing: Develop test plans, conduct system/integration testing, and ensure changes, enhancements, or new functions meet business needs.
Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to support decision-making and identify trends using statistical methods and data modeling techniques.
Collaboration & Strategy Development: Work with various departments to identify data needs and develop data-driven strategies to improve academic and administrative processes.
Technical Support: Troubleshoot issues in Workday and provide guidance to students, staff, and faculty.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical and user documentation, including problem logs, information bulletins, user support materials, and directives.
Compliance & Gap Analysis: Perform gap analysis on datasets for the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to ensure consistency and compliance.
Student Records & Curriculum Management: Manage student records and curriculum report production, resolving incidents and providing support for campus constituents.
Collaboration on Data Issues: Collaborate with functional areas to resolve duplicate records, credential assignments, and other issues.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the implementation of new functions and processes within the Registrar's Office.
Business Process Analysis: Analyze various business processes and electronic workflows related to enrollment, withdrawal, leave of absence, holds, and grade changes.
Compliance with FERPA: Ensure student and registration-related files are maintained in accordance with FERPA and record retention policies.
System Maintenance & Data Migration: Manage critical tasks related to system updates, maintenance, and data migration between Workday and other applications.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge of report writing tools, including SQL and Microsoft Excel.
Proficiency in Excel tools.
Preferred
Previous experience working in a Registrar's Office with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Experience with National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
Experience with student information systems.
Knowledge of record retention policies, FERPA, AACRAO guidelines, and relevant federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
