General Kitchen Sanitation (Food Services)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Fleet & Facilities Manager
STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time M-F
PROGRAM ADDRESS: 2230 Jerrold Avenue, San Francisco CA 94124
MISSION: Meals on Wheels provides a network of services that allow seniors to live in their homes with dignity and independence as long as possible.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Sanitation is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times, specifically cleaning and removing inedible waste, trash and debris from the facility, kitchen production and storage areas and restrooms.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Cleans within various warehouse environments of fluctuating temperatures, including Dry, Cooler, and Freezer
Cleans all areas in the kitchen, office building including shared public spaces
Washing down and sanitizing kitchen equipment after use or for product changeovers.
Removal of excess water on the floor in the warehouse and/or food processing area.
Stack product on pallets in accordance with proper staging/selecting procedures (for example, no stacking heavy-on-light, labels facing out, etc.).
Safely operate an electric pallet jack or forklift to transport product.
Safely stage pallets for storage or distribution to kitchen locations
Ensure continuity between shifts by documenting cleaning actions and noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.
Keep cleaning equipment operational by following manufacturers operating care and guidelines
Prepare for and/or participate in Local/State inspections.
Execute special cleaning assignments
Follow Meals on Wheels preferred work methods at all times, and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
Follow sanitation requirements in order to comply with policy set forth by the Company and by Department of Aging and Adult Services and Public Health Department.
Comply with Meals on Wheels San Francisco policies and procedures.
Must observe all Good Manufacturing Practices GMPs and Standard Operating Procedures.
Attend all required company meetings.

Basic Requirements:
Must be 18+ years of age
Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English, as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations
Must be able to meet the physical requirements listed in the physical job description
Must pass pre-employment testing (Background Check and Physical Abilities Test)
Preferred Requirements:
At least 3 months warehouse experience
At least 3 months experience operating an electric pallet jack or forklift
Previous experience at Meals on Wheels San Francisco or in foodservice industry strongly preferred

WAGES/HOURS/BENEFITS:
$20.25 per hour. This position is regular, full-time Monday Friday, non-exempt, 40 hours per week with occasional holidays.
