JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of Academic Leadership, the ELA teacher is responsible for creating an environment that supports a culture of learning and embraces student achievement in all subject areas. This includes creating classroom lesson plans, administering recognition, modeling exemplary behavior, and facilitating/instructing on all subject areas as it aligns with state and school standards. Additionally, he/she will create well-rounded and comprehensive instructional programs that challenge the minds of students and promote innovative classroom learning and engagement. He/she will also partner with teachers to develop consistent strategies and goals across grade levels and collaborate with Academic Coaches to develop classroom strategies.
The candidate must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have integrity, and is accountable to his/her actions. He/she will align himself/herself with NMAs core principles and understands the unique challenges of an immigrant and refugee community. A successful teacher will also have experience in a high performing fast paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree in Education or related field.Must be licensed to teach in the state of Minnesota or can obtain license within six months of employment1+ years of experience working in a classroom as a teacher, substitute teacher, paraprofessional, or student teacherKnowledge of MN state standardsAbility to create and foster safe learning and working environment for families and scholarsAbility to engage and motivate a workforce that will lead NMA to achieve academic goalsKnowledge of data analysis and applying data to decision makingExperience working in a diverse community, particularly in a Hmong community. Preference given to someone who speaks, writes, and reads Hmong.Ability to inspire, foster, and empower scholars, staff members, and parents in an academic setting.Ability to work in a professional and fast paced environment.Ability to prioritize work urgencies and be organized.Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Suite Words, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe/PDF.Ability to compile, interpret, and present data.Experience facilitating large group meetings and following through with agenda items and staying on tasks.
