Manager, Software Engineering
The Manager, Software Engineering will lead a group of developers and coordinate all development and production activities for custom applications and/or integration solutions. The manager will also contribute to the analysis, design, and implementation of solutions, and will be accountable for the successful delivery of their team's projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
What you'll be doing:
· Manage the development of custom applications and/or integration solutions to serve internal and/or external customers
· Ensure that the entire development lifecycle operates effectively, and is supported by the appropriate policies, procedures and standards that implement and enforce best practices, quality and consistency on behalf of the department
· Directly manage assigned employee group, which may also include on-site and/or offshore consultants. Carries out management and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Provide input on technical approach and level of effort for new projects to inform the project management office and IT steering committee
· Manage and forecast the allocation of resources to projects, and budget, as prioritized by the senior leadership team
· Collaborate with IT peers and various functional teams to achieve business results
· Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to ensure high quality solutions are deployed
· Actively identify and manage risks to the department and/or projects, and be proactive in communication to employees and business stakeholders alike to facilitate transparency and trust
· Contribute to the overall application landscape and strategy for applying new technology to ensure that our technology investments generate business capabilities superior to our competitors.
· Participate in software selection processes
· Stay current on new technologies and industry best practices
· Possess a high level of self-direction and accountability (goal-oriented mindset)
· Other duties as assigned
What we're looking for:
· 2+ years management or team lead experience.
· 5+ years prior application development experience with the Microsoft stack.
· Experience with the Agile methodology and Azure DevOps.
· Experience with Azure-based solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.
· Proven ability to influence and advocate change.
Bonus Points:
· Experience with Dynamics 365.
Education:
· Bachelor's degree or higher required.
· Computer Science or related degree preferred.
Travel:
· 5-10%
