INSTRUCTOR OF ENGLISH (Education)
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The Lane College English Department is seeking applications for an instructor position in English, effective [Fall 2025]. The successful candidate will be strongly committed to teaching excellence and dedicated to service within the department and the broader university community. This is a nine-month faculty position with a maximum teaching load of 15 credit hours. Teaching responsibilities include core and elective classes as well as activity courses. Additional responsibilities include advising, curriculum development, assessment, and service to the college and community. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Blackboard, CAMS, hybrid/online courses, and the ability to utilize innovative modalities for delivering course content. The instructor will also be responsible for teaching major courses in various formats, advising majors, and assisting in student recruitment and retention efforts. Additionally, the instructor will serve on division and college committees, meet established deadlines, and perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Teach undergraduate composition and survey literature courses.
Teach courses in traditional, blended, and online formats.
Mentor and advise students, providing academic and career guidance.
Participate in division and departmental meetings, committees, and community outreach.
Help recruit and retain students.
Meet established deadlines.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters in English or higher
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level.
Ability to engage with diverse student populations and contribute to an inclusive classroom environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
