Operations Specialist - Terminals (Finance)
This is a journey-level nonexempt position and works under general supervision. Responsible for the safe operations of equipment, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of mechanical equipment used in pipelines, pump stations and storage facilities as well as maintaining compliance in adherence with company, local, state, and federal policies. Job level commensurate with experience and skillset.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Demonstrate and demand a safety culture of zero accidents.
• Ensure compliance with company manual and policies during all projects, daily operations, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Complete assigned area's regulatory, company policy, operational, and all other assigned tasks. Paperwork is to be completed accurately, thoroughly, and filed in appropriate places.
• Take all measures to safely protect the environment, public, employees, and assets.
• Install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and repair various mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic pieces of equipment and keep all appropriate documentation associated with these duties up to date.
• Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
• Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
• Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
• Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of mechanical supplies and repair parts to meet most emergency situations.
• Work with project managers and contractors on all new construction projects.
• Communicate with supervisor on maintenance and repair issues, be receptive to change, and the exchange of ideas.
• Coordinate with other company departments regarding product movement.
• Understand emergency procedures, review SPCC and FRP annually, and be prepared for emergency response within the assigned area.
• Maintain audit readiness.
• Use good critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems.
• Update and distribute reports on product movement.
• Collaborate with other company departments to meet nominations when equipment failure, other constraints, or changes are experienced.
• Understand and be proficient in operations of pipeline and stations.
• Maintain customer relationships and provide excellent customer service by maintaining communication and aggressively solving problems that arise. Notify supervisor of any issues.
• During "on call" status, individual needs to have cell phone with them at all times. Timely responses are essential.
• May also perform repair and maintenance work, pigging of the pipelines, maintenance of right-of-way and grounds around pipeline, and other facilities and line locates as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Qualifications:

Education and/or experience:
• High school degree or equivalent.
• General knowledge of terminal/storage facilities, gathering systems, and product movement.
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
• May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.

• Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools.
• Climbs and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
• Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
• Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 150 foot pounds of torque.
• Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads.
• Walks an average of 5 miles per day, up to 7 miles per day.
• Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Must respond to and address callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours including after dark hours, which requires carrying a communication device.

• Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment.
• Required to climb about equipment and work in confined areas (i.e., tanks, between compressors, vessels).
• May be subject to work in hazardous conditions including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
• Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
• Wears safety equipment as required.
Because this position requires donning SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), employees must pass a SCBA fit test and screening as a condition of employment.
