About CICD
The Center for Indian Country Development (CICD) is a national research and policy institute for the Federal Reserve System dedicated to empowering economic self-determination and long-term prosperity for Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities. As a center of excellence within and resource for the Federal Reserve System, CICD serves as the System's key connector and catalyst to Indian Country leaders and to policymakers at the federal, state, and tribal levels.
Headquartered at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, CICD conducts actionable research and convenes tribal leaders, practitioners, and policymakers to inform public policy on issues that influence economic outcomes in Indian Country. Research and policy efforts focus primarily on tribal enterprise diversification, small business access to capital, tribal taxation, economic infrastructure, and tribal financing mechanisms.
Role and Responsibilities
The Center for Indian Country Development (CICD) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking a research intern to organize and analyze data for CICD's initiatives to inform public policy on issues that influence economic outcomes in Indian Country.
This is an hourly paid position, with the schedule and start and end dates negotiable. The successful candidate will be collaborative and curious, motivated to support economic self-determination in Indian Country through high-quality data and analysis.
The research intern will work under the direction of CICD's Data Director, focusing on the following tasks:
Process and organize data into standardized formats for analysis
Contribute to written descriptions of the data and to reports based on the analytical results
Contribute to a collaborative fact-checking process for CICD analysis
Required Qualifications
Proficiency with basic concepts of quantitative analysis
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong interest in economic issues affecting Native communities
Commitment to learning the analytical tools and practices in use at CICD, including R and Git
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Indian Country context, institutions, and economic issues
Understanding of or exposure to business dynamics (i.e., tendencies in how businesses grow and develop over time)
Demonstrated experience writing descriptive analysis of data
Previous experience working collaboratively on data-rich projects
Existing proficiency in R or another programming language
Additional Information

An essential function of this position is working onsite; this position qualifies for a hybrid working arrangement that supports remote work, but generally requires being onsite four days per week.
