We are a seeking a dynamic and passionate Senior Manager of Benefits & Compensation. The Senior Manager of Benefits and Compensation is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the North American employee benefit and wellness plans, and compensation. This position administers various employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, COBRA, group life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, Workers' Compensation, flexible spending accounts, telehealth, executive benefits, and the Merz Therapeutics retirement program. This role also manages all employee leaves of absence and acts as the main point of contact for employee benefit questions. In addition, this position is also responsible for managing employee compensation, ensuring competitive and equitable pay practices, and overseeing employee health and safety programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Benefits Administration
Lead the strategy, design, and execution of a self-funded, comprehensive benefits and wellness program.
Manage all Benefits vendor relationships, including but not limited to US and Canadian benefits brokers, major medical plan third party administrators, dental, vision, life, wellness, disability vendors and any added ancillary vendors that provide goods or services pertaining to employee benefits.
Administer employee benefit and wellness programs and coordinate enrollment.
Audit and pay all benefit invoices and manage benefits coverage changes as needed.
Manage every aspect of the FMLA, ADA, and Personal Leave administration process, including applying leave laws and company policies accurately, partnering with payroll to ensure proper payment and benefits administration, and working with third party administrators to monitor compliance with state rules.
Design and oversee every aspect of annual benefits open enrollment.
Prepare and execute documentation and policies and instruct various external agencies to effect changes in programs; ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act. Supervise preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinate company benefits with government-sponsored programs.
Provide best-in-class customer service; Handle all inquiries and complaints efficiently and courteously.
Organize annual wellness fairs in Raleigh and select vendors and themes said fairs; conduct post-event surveys to collect feedback for improvement
Deliver benefits overview presentation to North American new hire sand conduct reviews of material periodically.
Represent Merz Therapeutics on the Merz 401k retirement committee and actively collaborate with payroll on annual audits.
Oversee every aspect of Executive Benefits including executive life and disability programs and NQDC elections. Oversee every aspect of Workers Compensation, partnering with third party administrators to manage claims
Oversee every aspect of the tuition reimbursement program including program design and administration.
Serving as the primary owner any company policies that are benefits related, including but not limited to Merz Parental Leave Policy and the Education Reimbursement Policy.
2. Compensation
Serve as primary liaison to Global Compensation, and partner with them on all aspects of corporate compensation including merit increases, STI, compensation policy, career framework, career bands, etc.
Maintain and translate compensation databases to ensure that we are using accurate salary data for North America.
Partner with HR and the business to create competitive compensation and pay analyses for new roles, promotions, and to assess salary equity and competitiveness
Lead the compensation planning portion of the annual merit increase cycle, and partner with HR, Payroll and the business to collect and calibrate merit increases and STI
Oversee other aspects of our rewards and recognition program including AwardCo, service anniversaries, etc.
Partner with Global Compensation on strategic, global compensation initiatives including (but not limited to) implementing and supporting strategic global projects with respect to job architecture and a career framework.
3. Office Safety & EHS
Oversee all aspects of office safety & Environmental Health and Safety by collaborating with various departments to implement safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Promote safety in the workplace through training sessions to educate employees on safety practices and promote a culture of health and safety within the organization to help minimize workplace hazards and support the overall well-being of employees.
4. Other duties as assigned.Job Related Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field required.
PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
8-10 years progressive HR experience required.
8 years of specific U.S. benefit experience with a self-funded plan required.
SAP experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to organize plan and execute employee benefit and wellness programs required.
Demonstrating the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality required.
Ability to partner with and manage internal teams and external vendors required.
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
Working knowledge of payroll best practices required.
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material required.
Knowledge of Windows environment and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
Knowledge of UKG (Ultipro) HRIS preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; Excellent attention to detail required.
Excellent organizational and project management skills required.
Decision making, problem-solving, and analytical skills required.
