What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
Assist with complex data center engineering projects requiring 100% attention to detail.
Assist with the preparation of electrical/mechanical specifications and design criteria for data center projects.
Provide expert level input on future data center and MEC (mobile edge data center) designs and retrofits.
Review and update data center existing and MEC electrical documentation as expansions occur.
Review electrical mission critical system changes with Data center engineering team.
Provide and analyze energy efficient solutions to minimize power losses and improve efficiencies.
Develop innovative, cost effective and efficiency improvements as needed.
Generate RFPs, ROMs, and SOWs for multiple types of data center projects.
Develop comprehensive project plans and provide updates on progress, risks, and schedule.
Travel to data center sites to lead or support engineering changes, modifications, electrical system audits, startup testing, and commissioning when necessary.
Provide, review, track electrical capacity at various distribution levels from utility to end user.
Coordinate the Design Process, manage budget reviews and support construction efforts for new projects and existing site expansions, while collaborating with contractors and internal teams
Review and approve as-builts and submissions.
Ensure compliance with codes and data center standards, develop infrastructure improvements, and serve as an expert in the field of electrical engineering.
Participate in root cause analysis and create and develop corrective actions.
Participate in M&A studies and projects when required.
Justify and communicate technical decisions to senior management.
What You'll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
High School Diploma/GED.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field of study.
7+ years of combined data center cross discipline knowledge experience
Previous experience with electrical equipment design to include Generators, electrical switchgear, UPS systems necessary.
Awareness of technical standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, LEED-EBOM, etc.)
Knowledge of short circuit coordination and arc flash studies
Experience leading with an ownership mentality for maintaining uptime in a critical environment.
Solid understanding of critical electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire suppression operation and applicable codes
Experience managing construction projects and infrastructure upgrades, including Capex and Opex budgeting.
Proficient in AutoCAD MEP/Revit MEP/Bluebeam to develop electrical construction models and documents.
Have fluent knowledge of continuous and critical operating redundant electrical systems, mechanical cooling systems, and BMS systems and controls.
Expert level knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
Expert level knowledge of uninterruptible power sources, stored energy systems, AC/DC conversion, diesel generators systems, complex multi system circuit arrangements, etc.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of mission critical facilities
Must possess strong engineering judgement and be highly detailed and data oriented.
7+years' experience in data center engineering required.
Autocad MEP experience is required

Ability to use multiple channels or means to communicate important messages (i.e., memos, meetings, electronic mail).
Effective facilitation skills. Ability to facilitate individual or group discussions.

Ability to create graphics, overheads, or slides that display information clearly and with high impact.
Ability to perform complex engineering calculations with 100% accuracy at all times.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as arithmetic, probability and statistical inference.
Ability to define and prioritize problems, collect and organize data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and projections.
Ability to think critically, utilizing a logical, systematic, sequential approach.
Ability to weigh costs, benefits, risks, and chances for success, in making well informed decisions.
Ability to anticipate implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action in preparation of possible contingencies.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
PE Registration preferred but not required.
