We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant supports business unit management, functional leads, and senior accounting staff with financial reporting and analysis under limited supervision. This includes the income statement, balance sheet, expense analysis, and other financial reports. In addition, the position may provide support and guidance in financial forecasting, monthly closing, general ledger maintenance, fixed asset expenditure requests and tracking, physical inventory reconciliations, and other general accounting duties, as required. The Senior Accountant demonstrates consistent application of duties.
Responsibilities
General Ledger - While applying professional accounting principles, responsible for more complex activities associated with maintaining complete and accurate general ledger accounts balances and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements, reconciles sub-ledger to general account, reviews general ledger accounts and communicates or completes correcting journal entries. Maintains the general ledger chart of accounts, monthly, quarterly and annual accruals. Works in cross-functional teams (Finance, IT, etc.) to implement system enhancements to improve processes and create efficiencies.
Research & Analysis - Performs analysis of balance sheets, income statements and cash flows for respective department and/or business unit. Analyze areas requiring a high degree of estimates and subjectivity. Researches proper treatment of accounting topics and prepares recommendations. Serves as plant/functional area liaison related to improving earnings and/or processes. Performs root cause analysis.
Financial Reporting - While applying professional accounting principles (GAAP), prepares more complex internal and external financial reports and statements including balance sheets, profit, loss, and subsidiary statements, prepares and recommends actions in monthly and quarterly management/financial reports. Highlight performance compared to plan and forecast, as well as identifying trends and potential impact to financial performance. Assist in the preparation or review of reporting packages to other departments (Tax, Treasury, Risk Management, etc.).
Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting - Using trend and analysis techniques, designs and maintains complex budgets and forecasts and makes recommendations for review by financial, sales or operational management. Works closely with respective department/business unit personnel in developing budget and forecast assumptions; monitors changes in assumptions throughout the fiscal year.
Auditing - Assesses internal controls, risk assessments and recommendations Completes and/or reviews External Audit schedules and ensures completeness and accuracy.
Tax Accounting and Planning - Provides tax data and information to tax department and answers questions related to tax data for sales, use taxes, and personal property taxes. (applicable in BUs only)
Cost Accounting - Evaluates process for determining direct and indirect costs, overhead and material costs, analyzes cost variances and recommends action. (applicable in BUs only)
Capital Planning and Appropriation - Responsible for designing, conducting or assisting in documenting planning, modeling and analysis projects; prepares or reviews moderately complex Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and post CAR completion reviews; prepares and consolidates a wide range of operating and financial projections for the development of both short-term and long-term business plans. Interaction with the plant is necessary in this role. Tracking fixed asset records is completed in this category. (applicable in BUs only)
Leadership - Leads or supervises interns and junior accounting staff

Desired Experience
Accounting Software - Prefer JD Edwards and Tagetik experience
Proficient using Microsoft Office, plus expert Excel skills
