The Safety Training Coordinator plays a critical role in developing and implementing safety training programs in an aluminum sheet manufacturing environment. This position ensures all employees, contractors, and visitors are properly trained on workplace hazards, regulatory compliance, and company safety policies. The ideal candidate will be an experienced safety professional with a strong background in OSHA, NFPA 70E, molten metal safety, LOTO, machine guarding, and hazardous materials handling. They will collaborate with plant leadership, operations, and EHS teams to maintain a proactive safety culture and reduce workplace incidents.

What you will work on:
Safety Training Program Development & Implementation
- Design and deliver manufacturing-specific safety training for new hires, existing employees, supervisors, and contractors as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910, ANSI, NFPA, and industry-specific regulations related to aluminum sheet manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain training materials for critical safety topics, including molten metal safety, hot work, mechanical hazards, PPE, ergonomics, and emergency response.
- Oversee all safety related training programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and corporate policies.
- Utilize hands-on demonstrations, e-learning, toolbox talks, and safety simulations to enhance engagement and retention.
- Ensure all training materials are updated to reflect regulatory changes, process modifications, and safety best practices.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate records of employee safety training, certifications, and qualifications in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Ensure all employees meet required safety training deadlines and audit training records for compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Assist in preparing for OSHA inspections, customer audits, and internal EHS reviews by providing documentation and training reports.
- Conduct routine evaluations of training effectiveness through testing, observations, and feedback from employees and supervisors.
Employee Engagement & Safety Culture
- Work closely with plant leadership, production teams, and EHS professionals to foster a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Encourage employee participation in Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs and recognize employees for safety contributions.
- Partner with maintenance and production teams to ensure safe operating procedures (SOPs) are properly communicated and trained.
- Support contractor safety training and orientation programs to ensure compliance with plant-specific safety protocols.
Incident Response & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in incident investigations by reviewing training history and identifying areas for improvement.
- Recommend corrective actions and retraining initiatives to prevent future incidents.
- Support emergency response training, including fire safety, first aid/CPR, and evacuation drills.
- Analyze injury trends and near-miss reports to develop targeted training initiatives that address recurring risks.
About you:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in safety training within an industrial, manufacturing, or aluminum processing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, molten metal safety, LOTO, and machine guarding regulations.
- Experience with heavy machinery safety, mobile equipment training, and ergonomic risk reduction.
- Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and training documentation software.
- Certification(s) such as OSHA 30/510, and Train-the-Trainer in industrial safety programs preferred.
- Ability to conduct hands-on training in a manufacturing setting, including standing, lifting, and operating safety equipment.
