Quality Analytical Intern (Finance)

During the internship program, the intern will learn the Quality & Analytical Department's objectives and procedures while contributing to departmental operations. The intern will be a Science student, responsible for daily tasks, weekly tasks, and ongoing projects to support the development of Quality Systems, verify product quality analytically, and assist in manufacturing improvement projects all in our global innovation center office and state of the art Global Scientific Services Laboratory as well as some familiarization with the Distilleries for process understanding. Periodically, he or she will have the opportunity to shadow in other areas of the business such as research and development. In addition to learning the critical role quality plays in meeting customer satisfaction and meeting company goals, these shadowing opportunities will expose the intern to potential career paths outside of the quality and analytical laboratory functions. The internship will culminate with a final presentation to management describing what the intern learned and the value he or she provided to the company.
Role Responsibilities
• Learn to understand, operate, and maintain much of the state of the art chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation used in a beverage manufacturing environment.
• Assist with liquid and packaging quality and analytical tests in the lab and including sensory evaluations
• Assist with acquiring distillery samples and perform analytical and microbiological testing in Scientific Services
• GEMBA walk the Distillery operations in CL and BN
• Coordinate with Distillery management when the bi weekly washdown will be and setup a plan to collect samples and plate for micro to estimate cleaning effectiveness.
• Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure sample integrity
• Safety is everyone's responsibility; identify risks and report violations, near misses, or injuries immediately.
• Knowledge of GMP's, safety standards, quality standards and demonstrated ability to react and communicate effectively to issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a graduate/undergraduate program
• Is pursuing a degree in Chemistry(preferred)/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biological Sciences
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated with a desire to learn
• Highly organized
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Must be 21 years of age
• Authorized to work in the US
