QMA (Qualified Medication Aide) - Assisted Living (Healthcare)
Provide daily direct care to residents, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, assisting with food consumption, transferring, and ambulating. Ensure a positive, home-like environment for residents, fostering trust and offering emotional support. Communicate and actively listen, working closely with residents' families. Monitor and report changes in resident condition or other relevant matters to the Charge Nurse.
Address residents' health needs, including accurate measurements (vital signs, intake/output, food consumption, etc.), proper documentation, assisting nurses with treatments, medical procedures, and emergencies, and providing timely responses to call lights or emergency alarms.
Ensure safety for both employees and residents, including following infection control protocols, maintaining a clean and safe environment, reporting safety issues immediately, and performing procedures accurately. Report injuries to the Charge Nurse and participate in fire and disaster drills. In emergencies, assist in ensuring the safety of residents and staff.
Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans for assigned residents, providing relevant information and recommendations to the Charge Nurse.
Perform administrative tasks, such as prioritizing daily duties, attending staff meetings, reviewing and implementing updated policies, attending required continuing education and in-service programs, and applying new knowledge to daily responsibilities.
As directed, perform quality assessment and assurance tasks.
Assist with survey processes as needed.
Respond to inquiries or complaints from residents, regulatory agencies, or community members. Must be able to speak, understand, and read English at a level necessary to safely care for residents.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with high energy and enthusiasm. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to organize, document, and execute detailed programs.
Physical requirements include standing, sitting, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 75 pounds or more, bending, climbing, twisting, walking, running, carrying, talking, using the telephone, and exposure to medical equipment and persons with risk of illness.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Completion of the Medication Assistant Training Program and Certified Nursing Assistant Program. One to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred. Must meet state and federal requirements.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS:
Medication Assistant Certification and Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, as required.
