As a Silo Operator, you will be responsible to manage the controls or tends conveyors or conveyor systems that move materials or products to and from stockpiles, processing stations, departments, or vehicles. Controls panel board to convey product into silos (interim storage) and readies product for shipment. Inspects mobile equipment prior to use using the pre-use inspection form and services equipment after use. Submits a completed daily check list by the end of the work shift. Operates mobile equipment in a fashion that does not cause damage and supports the long-term reliability of the equipment. Keeps coke segregated into proper storage piles. Loads raw and calcined coke in the grades and quantities as instructed. Performs routine maintenance on mobile equipment such as replacement of oil and air filters, changing and adding oil, and lubrication of parts. Troubleshoots equipment to resolve operational problemsInforms supervisor of equipment malfunctions that need to be addressed. Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains equipment and work areas, using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants. Manipulates controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows. Observes conveyor operations and monitors silo levels, in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions. Weighs or measures materials and products, using scales or other measuring instruments, or reads scales on conveyors that continually weigh products, in order to verify specified tonnages and prevent overloads. Communicates with the Control Room Operator to ensure that the appropriate blend is being loaded into the proper raw coke silos. Stops equipment or machinery and clears jams, using poles, bars, and hand tools, or remove damaged materials from conveyors. Positions deflector bars, gates, chutes, or spouts to divert flow of materials from one conveyor onto another conveyor. Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned. Assists other personnel on an as-needed basis in the performance of work in other job descriptions.
