Product Manager (Finance)

Position Summary

The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring achievement of all project objectives both internal and contractual. The Product Manager focuses on technical and administrative control of the project and acts as the primary point of contact from contract kickoff through project completion or product commercialization, for internal business or segment leadership and, if applicable, any consortium or channel partners. The Product Manager is responsible for leading the integrated project team and ensuring the project technical and business objectives are achieved. Success is measured in terms of meeting or exceeding project financial performance (revenue, cost, and profit margin), customer satisfaction metrics, vendor timelines and deliverables, contract deliverables, and internal documentation (product road maps, feature development, net technologies, etc.)
Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Strategy: Work with business development team to ensure product aligns with goals and strategy. Develop and present plans for feature development ensuring plans meet product goals and customer needs.
• Research: Learn about the market, competitors, emerging technologies, and customer needs. Documenting and presenting recommended product changes, technology integration, backend development, etc. to meet customer need, present a more competitive technology, meet market focus etc.
• Planning: Create timelines and roadmaps that align with FMD and customer goals. Ensure all product development progress is on track updating timelines and road maps as needed.
• Budgeting: Manage budget and resources allocated to the project ensuring development stays withing budget. Create spend plans for future product developments. Work with vendors to ensure budgets are tracked and costs clearly defined ensuring they algin with internal and external funding. Shared responsibility for FMT Segment Revenue, Order Intake, and GM%. Ensure incurred cost are documented and checked against budget validating budget will not be overrun.
• Quality: Ensure the product meets legal, safety, IT, cyber security, and quality standards. Lead development of test plans to ensure development specifications are met. Develop documentation demonstrating quality requirements are met in a manner so they can that can be shared with customers. Serves as the primary point of contact with customers and vendors. serves as the customer advocate for all matters pertaining to the assigned projects.
• Communication: Regularly meet with stakeholders to report on progress and performance to gather feedback. Regularly meet with team ensuring tasks are being completed in a timely manner and future task and timelines are understood and achievable. Meet with vendors on a regular bases ensuring deliverables are met and timelines are tracked. In all meeting ensure agendas ensure the meeting is effective and meeting minutes with actions are sent out after each meeting.
• Execution: Lead product development actions ensuring they meet schedule, specification, cost, and business case requirements as agreed with customers, segment directors, internal executive team, and/or supporting functions.
  • Evaluates all phases of the assigned projects including budget, schedule, technical performance, and manufacturing performance, actuals, and variances. Provides periodic reports to management to reflect the status of the assigned projects.
  • Support pipeline development and execution with Segment Directors, Sales Managers, Service Centers, Project Leads and Customer Service.
  • Support customers and internal stake holders in pursuit of new projects, product upgrades, and equipment investigations.
• Problem Solving: Anticipate and solve problems as they arise. Lead the creation of risk registers and monitor through the project to ensure all risk are documented and proper action is taken. When issues arise connect the appropriate groups outlining specific actions to be taken, date of resolution and appropriate follow-on meetings documented the process to ensure future projects implement appropriate fixes.
• Pricing: Develop product and application specific pricing using market research, production costs, engineering time, sales costs, and other factors.
• Marketing: Work with marketing and sales to promote the product and ensure market growth. Present specific key features to marketing team, sales team, and potential customers. Train sales and marketing teams on use of the product so they can effectively demonstrate use of the product.
• Training: Work with training department to ensure they have all the required demos, hardware, and documentation. Work with training department to develop new training materials to support various needs.
• Travel: As required travel to various locations to support deployment, training, product development etc as they align with product road maps and FMD strategy.

Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Business, Business Management or other related fields.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred
• A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated, successful project execution experience in a technical field; marine and/or digital product development experience is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead an indirect team of 5-10 individuals, including the ability to appropriately balance team and individual workloads and provide feedback to direct managers for performance coaching
• Strong English language communications skills (verbal, written and presentation); ability to clearly and concisely express and present information (or data) to non-technical associates, peers, and management
• Strong financial acumen related to reporting and decision making
• Highly motivated and self-determined
• Ability to develop creative, sound solutions to commercial problems that balance customer expectations and business objectives.
• Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules and priorities for multiple projects or assignments
• Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 20%
• Excellent business power user IT skills (MS Office & Office 365, MS Project)
• This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship.
