Amsted Rail in Granite City, Illinois, is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - 2nd Shift for this position. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with AAR, AWS, customer, and internal regulations while supporting and overseeing the welding processes to maintain the highest quality standards.

- Detail-Oriented Expert: Extensive knowledge of welding principles, metallurgical properties, and inspection techniques.

- Strong Communicator: Capable of effectively leading teams, conducting audits, and writing clear, concise reports.
- Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Reports (PQRs) per AWS requirements.
- Inspect and test welded joints for defects, dimensions, strength, bead formation, penetration, and conformance to specifications.
- Observe and evaluate welding techniques, providing feedback to welders.
- Review plans, contract documents, and specifications to ensure fabrication and defect repair compliance.
- Train and certify welders to internal standards and maintain certification records.
- Conduct welding and process audits, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- AWS CWI Certification with 5+ years of experience in welding inspection, writing, and interpreting specifications.
- Strong blueprint and layout reading skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead meetings and training sessions.
